Today marked an auspicious occasion as students and faculty at Motithang Higher Secondary School gathered in the Assembly Hall to commemorate Buddha’s First Turn of the Wheel of Dharma at Deer Park in Sarnath, India. This sacred day honors the moment when Buddha first shared the teachings that would become the foundation of Buddhism: The Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
The Four Noble Truths, central to Buddhist philosophy, are:
- Dukkha – The truth of suffering.
- Samudaya – The truth of the cause of suffering (craving and attachment).
- Nirodha – The truth of the cessation of suffering.
- Magga – The truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering (the Noble Eightfold Path).
His Holiness Tang Rinpoche graced the gathering with profound teachings on the Four Noble Truths. He also shared practical instructions on the preliminary practices of Jampel Zhidrup (Peaceful Manjushri), offering guidance on how to integrate these practices into daily life. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and deepen their understanding of the Dharma.
The teachings reminded all present of the timeless relevance of the Buddha’s words and the transformative power of spiritual practice.
