Kyabje Rinpoche has been continuously stressing the benefits of protecting and saving lives (tshethar). He has been encouraging students to develop compassion and kindness to all living beings. Rinpoche emphasises that saving lives does not require establishing organisations or making investments. Everyone can engage in meaningful activities without special resources. According to the Buddhist teachings, it is the practitioner’s motivation that matters and not the size of the animal. One can develop boddhicitta and collect merits even by showing kindness and compassion to a small insect, an earthworm drying up on a street or a small fish in a drying up river bed.
